About:
Caroline Monbailliu (°1976) born in Ghent (Belgium) and still living near this vibrant city.
Proud mum of 2 awesome and inspiring young adults.
Master in Visual Arts and working as a freelance interior and architectural photographer since 2000.
I have been working for many years for some Belgian leading interior and lifestyle magazines, publishing houses, architects, interiorarchitects and building company’s.
A passion that continues.
In 2017, a new passion come along: the world of flooring.
I develop new collections for various product groups in hard flooring: LVT, laminate, and parquet.
I closely follow the latest interior and design trends, create trendreports, and research new designs and colors. Together with the product managers, we use this information to develop a new flooring collection. I follow the entire design process: from the first color samples to the first production run. This often takes place abroad: Norway, Germany, China, and France. For each new collection, I create a stylebook that serves as a guideline for marketing. I also create mood boards.
In 2024, I obtained the postgraduate certificate “Trendwatching; from trend analysis to succesful innovation” @HoGent.
I noticed that, at a certain point in time, we see similarities in symbols, colors, and designs across different disciplines (visual arts, trade fairs, design events), in different places, and at different times.
As a trendwatcher, I observe the world around us and make connections between the world we are living in and trends in interior design. What is the effect of social changes on interior design?
And What’s next?
Almost 50 and full of new plans in my head, such as, a to deep dive in the world of Colors, how I can AI use in my job and new visual project about “similarities” is coming up! So keep an eye on my blog!
